To all my freelance readers: you’re probably making a mental note of the electrical outlets near my sneakers in the above photo aren’t you? Don’t lie- that’s always a perk when a cafe actually shares the juice with its patrons rather than serving a death stare with that cortado.

Perhaps ‘more west’ should also imply ‘more hipster’. With the new extended MTR line, all locals are recalibrating their minds to look for signage that says ‘Kennedy Town’ than ‘Sheung wan’ and the further you go- where ethos is located- the more beards and Muji-dressing. Not a stranger to the slow-movement, the owners of ethos are made up of interior/graphic/fashion designers who lent their multi-disciplinary skill set into creating this tri-unit shop and cafe. The duplex space focuses on community and curating a selection of lifestyle goods from designers in Hong Kong to support local talent but many customers flock here for Kinspiracy photos of #coffee #minimal #white to pretty up their Instagram. While ethos hopes the focus will be on the curated shop space than its cafe, Hong Kongers will probably check it out for cappuccinos and the wood/concrete interiors. Watch out for future artist studios, gallery openings and designer collabs; otherwise bookmark it for days you need to plow through espresso-fueled emails or impress a first date with your extensive knowledge on local Hong Kong.
